Prof. Mohamed-Slim Alouini

Biography: Mohamed-Slim Alouini was born in Tunis, Tunisia. He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in 1998. He served as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota then in the Texas A&M University at Qatar before joining in 2009 the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) where he is now a Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prof. Alouini is a Fellow of the IEEE and OPTICA. He is currently particularly interested in addressing the technical challenges associated with the uneven distribution and access to information and communication technologies in rural, hard-to-reach, and/or low-income areas.
Prof. Yang Yue

Biography: Yang Yue received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering and optics from Nankai University, China, in 2004 and 2007, respectively. He received the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, USA, in 2012. He is a Professor with the School of Information and Communications Engineering, Xi'an Jiaotong University, China. Dr. Yue’s current research interest is intelligent photonics, including optical communications, optical perception, and optical chip. He has published over 200 journal papers (including Science) and conference proceedings with >10,000 citations, five edited books, two book chapters, >60 issued or pending patents, >200 invited presentations (including 2 tutorial, >40 plenary and >50 keynote talks). Dr. Yue is a Fellow of SPIE, a Senior Member of IEEE and Optica. He is an Associate Editor for IEEE Access and Frontiers in Physics, Editor Board Member for four other scientific journals, Guest Editor for >10 journal special issues. He also served as Chair or Committee Member for >100 international conferences, Reviewer for >70 prestigious journals.
Prof. Nikolaos M. Freris

Biography: Nick Freris is Professor in the School of Computer Science at USTC, and Vice Dean of the International College. He received the Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece, in 2005, and the M.S. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, the M.S. degree in Mathematics, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering all from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2007, 2008, and 2010, respectively. His research lies in AIoT/CPS/IoT: machine learning, distributed optimization, data mining, wireless networks, control, and signal processing, with applications in power systems, sensor networks, transportation, cyber security, and robotics. Dr. Freris has published several papers in high-profile conferences and journals held by IEEE, ACM, and SIAM and holds three patents. His research has been sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, Anhui Dept. of Science and Technology, Tencent, and NSF, and was recognized with the National High-level Talent award, the USTC Alumni Foundation Innovation Scholar award, and the IBM High Value Patent award. Previously, he was with the faculty of NYU and, before that, he held senior researcher and postdoctoral researcher positions at EPFL and IBM Research, respectively. Dr. Freris is a Senior Member of ACM and IEEE, and a member of CCF and SIAM.
Prof. Quanxin Zhu

Biography: Professor Quanxin Zhu received the Ph.D. degree from Sun Yatsen (Zhongshan) University, Guangzhou, China, in 2005. He is currently a Professor with Hunan Normal University, distinguished professor of Hunan Province and Leading talent of scientific and technological innovation in Hunan Province, and deputy director of the Key Laboratory of computing and stochastic mathematics of the Ministry of education. He won the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation of Germany and the Highly Cited Researcher Award by Clarivate Analytics in 2018-2022. He won First prize of Hunan Natural Science Award, two percent of the world’s top scientists in 2020-2022. Also, Professor Zhu is a senior member of the IEEE and he is the Lead Guest Editor of some international journals. Professor Zhu has obtained 2011 Annual Chinese “One Hundred The Most Influential International Academic Paper” Award and has been One of most cited Chinese researchers in 2014-2021, Elsevier. He is an associate editor of some international journals including IEEE Transactions on Automation Science and Engineering, Application Analysis, etc., and a reviewer of more than 50 other journals. He is the author or the co-author of more than 300 journal articles. His research interests include stochastic control, stochastic systems, stochastic stability, stochastic delayed systems, Markovian jump systems, and stochastic complex networks.
Prof. Inkyu Lee

Biography: Inkyu Lee (Fellow, IEEE) received the B.S. degree (Hons.) in control and instrumentation engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea, in 1990, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA, in 1992 and 1995, respectively. From 1995 to 2002, he was a member of the Technical Staff with Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, Murray Hill, NJ, USA, where he studied high-speed wireless system designs. Since 2002, he has been with Korea University, Seoul, where he is currently a Professor with the School of Electrical Engineering, where he has also served as the Department Head of the School of Electrical Engineering from 2019 to 2021. In 2009, he was a Visiting Professor at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA. He has authored or coauthored more than 200 journal articles in IEEE publications and holds 30 U.S. patents granted or pending. His research specializations include wireless communication theory, machine learning, multiple antenna (MIMO) techniques, wireless energy transfer, space-time processing for wireless applications, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), equalization and coding, information theory. He has served as an Associate Editor for the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON COMMUNICATIONS from 2001 to 2011 and the IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS from 2007 to 2011. In addition, he was the Chief Guest Editor for the Special Issue on 4G Wireless Systems of the IEEE JOURNAL ON SELECTED AREAS IN COMMUNICATIONS in 2006. He currently serves as the Editor in Chief of the Journal of Communications and Networks, member of National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK) and International Affairs Chair of National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK).
